Film: The Spook Who Sat By The Door

"A former CIA agent (Lawrence Cook) organizes black teenagers into well-trained guerrilla bands bent on overthrowing the white establishment."1973, classic activist film.

"The late Sam Greenlee suffered tremendously [when the movie] came out. He and all but one of the actors were blacklisted. He explained it after a showing of [the movie] at UC Berkley in the early ''80s. He had no income and had to depend on friends. The book and the movie at the time [were] banned. [There] was a rare copy at Marcus Books in Oakland that was very expensive. After about a decade the book went back [to] print and the movie was shown on TV. R.I.P Sam Greenlee, your work continues to be a light in our battle against the darkness."
